Description of Work:  Work in teams of four people. Members conduct a special liturgy of the Word in the parish centre for children from 2nd 3rd and 4th classes. Arrive 40 minutes before Mass to prepare, i.e., create a focal point in the room, set up gifts, light candles, set out artwork, etc. Two people collect the children from the church.  Children sit down, simple prayers are recited, and a simplified version of the gospel of the day is read.  A little discussion on the gospel follows and the gifts to be brought up in the Mass are explained.  Art activity relating to the gospel is explained.  Two people go with the gift bearers to the church.  The remaining two people help the children complete the art activity, recite the closing prayer, and accompany the children back to the church.  Team members take 10 minutes to tidy up after Mass.

Time Commitment Involved:  One hour every 5 weeks.  Approx. four group meetings a year lasting two hours each

Are any special skills or talents required:  No, just happy working with children.  Members can pick the jobs they feel comfortable doing.
